As a "WOP" I have to admit I got just a bit giddy when I saw this. What could it be? could it be The Tour de France returning to Italy? Woo hoo! Next year it is likely that the Tour will take a detour through Italy for the first time since 1999. According to reports, the summit of Pratonevoso in northwest Italy expected to be included as part of the 2008 Tour route.
Apparently the tour is also set to depart from Brest for only the third time in the Tours history, and the Tour will begin without a prologue for the first time in forty years.
We will find out for sure tomorrow in the official unvieling of the 95th Tour, in Paris. The event is likely to bring out such top riders as Alberto Contador, Cadel Evans, Oscar Pereiro, Thomas Voeckler and Mauricio Soler.
Until tomorrow.
